Reawakening to the awareness that everything is alive, James Collector’s 2022 EP, “Animacy,” is definitely morning music. The title track opens with two minutes of ambient sound bath, building towards a playful jamboree. Hanging Meadows explores a melody Collector managed to record as a voice memo while backpacking in the Sierras. The last track, From Here On, rides out on a winding downtempo footpath into the forgotten places where childhood dreams await rediscovery.
