Gentle Reader is James Collector’s first solo release under his real name. The ten instrumental tracks showcase more personal and exploratory sides of the Bay-Area-based producer, ranging from downtempo and folktronica, to ambient and melodic techno. Collector, also known as Swoop, the MC and co-founder of Host Bodies, splits his creative efforts between music and writing. Likewise, the album title finds its ambiguity in the fog between voice and listener, language and sound. The photograph used for the album artwork was taken by Collector near Land’s End in San Francisco.
